About Us
Experience Orkney is a locally operated tour company offering personalised Orkney tours across land and sea. Guests can choose between Walking Tours, Skarabrae Heritage Tours, and Orkney Boat Tours, each crafted to reveal a different side to the islands’ heart.
On land, travellers explore ancient villages like Skara Brae, the stone circle at the Ring of Brodgar, and the windswept cliffs where seabirds nest. Those who venture further can join our boat tours to the outlying islands and step inside the Knap of Howar on Papa Westray, one of the oldest stone houses in northern Europe, or stand among Iron Age brochs on Rousay and Eday.
Every journey introduces Orkney’s history, wildlife, and coastal beauty through the eyes of a certified expert who calls these islands home.
Meet Your Guide – Ebenezer Quansah
My name is Ebenezer Quansah, a dedicated professional who has made a home in the beautiful Orkney Islands, where he has lived for nearly two decades. Originally from England, I moved to Orkney to start a new chapter in my life and has since built a career as a taxi driver, serving the local community for almost two decades. Before settling in Orkney, I studied computer science in London and at Staffordshire University, where I developed a deep understanding of technology.
Despite my career in the taxi industry, my academic background has always stayed with me, fuelling my curiosity and problem-solving skills.
Alongside my work, I have always nurtured a love for history—a passion that led me to pursue further education in the field. In 2023, I graduated from the Scottish Tourist Guide Association’s tour guiding course, earning a green badge to guide tourists through the rich history of the Orkney Islands. Over the past year, I have enjoyed sharing my knowledge of the islands with visitors, bringing local history to life in a way that is both engaging and informative. As a father of four, I value family deeply and have navigated the challenges of divorce with resilience and determination. My personal journey has further shaped my appreciation for the importance of connections, whether with family, friends, or with beloved community in Orkney. In my spare time, I am an avid reader, particularly when it comes to history, and I am also a passionate football fan. My love for sports, history, and storytelling continues to inspire my work as a tour guide and enriches my day-to-day life.

Walking Tours explore Orkney’s towns, historic landmarks, and coastal paths. Guests can wander through Kirkwall’s old streets, visit St Magnus Cathedral, or follow sea-edge trails alive with seabirds. These tours offer an intimate look at how Orkney’s history continues to shape daily life.
What does a Heritage Tour include?
Heritage Tours focus on the islands’ long human story. Travellers visit Neolithic villages, Iron Age brochs, and sites linked to the Norse period. Each stop connects archaeological detail with the customs and traditions that still influence Orkney today.
Where do the Boat Tours go?
Boat Tours reach the outer islands, where history and nature meet. Guests may explore the Knap of Howar on Papa Westray, stand at Iron Age brochs on Rousay, or walk the beaches of Sanday. Along the way, they often spot puffins, seals, and other coastal wildlife that thrive in these northern waters.
Are the tours suitable for all interests?
